Founded in 2005, Mladinsko Društvo Marezige has been an active force in the cultural life of the Koper municipality from day one. Although rooted in the village of Marezige, our members come not only from the local community but also from surrounding villages and the city of Koper itself.
Our focus is the organisation of concerts, music seminars, workshops, and any activity connected to culture, art, or cultural heritage. We are entirely volunteer-driven and work in close collaboration with the Municipality of Koper and European youth networks.
What We Do
Our flagship project and one of Slovenia's most beloved jazz events. Since 2005, MareziJazz has brought together around 10 big bands and 250 musicians each year for an unforgettable open-air weekend in Marezige, drawing thousands of visitors from across the region and beyond.
Known in Slovenian as "Zgrabi Zvok", our summer jazz school was created to fill a gap in the regional music scene. Running alongside MareziJazz from 2011 to 2017, then revived in 2019 and relaunched with renewed energy in 2022, it offers workshops, masterclasses, and ensemble sessions for young musicians of all levels.
Our very own youth big band, active within the organisation for several years and a regular presence on the stages of the Slovenian coast and beyond. Bend-it! performs a growing body of original compositions alongside curated repertoire, and is dedicated to the musical growth and education of every musician involved.
